UK Payphone Directory has been operating since 1991, and managing its annual competition since 2002. The competition is great fun and aims to get people out and about all over the UK and whilst out and about to dial a freefone 0800 phone number from any public payphone they some across, tell us where they are and instantly see if they have won one of the many free cash prizes on offer. There will be a number of phones all of which have an amount of cash linked to them as below:

Why do we do it... apart from the fun of it?
UK Payphone Directory is a unique source of information, providing the details of almost 167,000 payphones across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Channel Islands and Republic of Ireland.
For each of these we currently hold the following level of information:

When people call in from a payphone it tells our database that it is still a working payphone and notes the time and date of the call. Our systems are automated and sometimes we will ask someone to confirm something about the location of the payphone they are calling from although this is independent from the competition and has no bearing on anyone winning a prize. The competition is not a 'luck of the draw' or random prize' competition, all payphones which are earmarked as winners are pre-chosen before the competition starts and are not changed.
